The archaeologists in Amphipolis found 3 new inscriptions. On one of them, they discovered the Monogram of the closest friend of Alexander the Great, Hephaestion. The head architect, Michalis Lefantzis, stated that the Amphipolis Tomb was ordered by Alexander the Great to Dinocrates, in order to dedicate it to general Hephaestion, who died in 324 B.C. in Ecbatana, Iran and was Alexander’s closest friend. The lead archaeologist, Katerina Peristeri, claims that the whole monument was a funerary monument for Hephaestion and that it was built between 325 - 300 BC.
